Planetlove WKD Festival – It’s Like That

06 July 2010

New York hip-hop act Rev Run from Run DMC has just been added to the line-up for Planetlove WKD's summer festival at Belfast's King's Hall Showgrounds, running from 10 to 11 September.

It will be the US artist's only UK and Ireland festival appearance of 2010.

And he performs alongside a host of international artists including Calvin Harris, the world's Number 1 DJ Armin van Buuren, Example (live), Eric Prydz, Sander Kleinenberg and Chuckie as Planetlove WKD hold their festival over two days for only the second time in their history.

Run DMC is credited with bringing hip-hop into mainstream music.

From the first beats of their 1983 debut single 'It's Like That', Run-DMC ignited a revolution that has catapulted them to legendary status the world over.

• Run DMC was the first rap act to:

• Have a Number 1 R&B charting rap album

• Have a Top 10 pop charting rap album

• Earn RIAA gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums

• Appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine

• Receive a Grammy Award nomination

• Have a video added to MTV

• Appear on Saturday Night Live and American Bandstand

• Win crossover appeal with rock and hip-hop fans

• Perform at Live Aid in 1985

Rev Run's Belfast performance is set to attract music fans from across Ireland.

Also featured at the multiple arena festival are Funkagenda, Slam, Dave Spoon, Mark Knight and Silicone Soul.

Global music brands including Toolroom Knights, Pryda, Q-Dance and Goodgreef will host arenas. Trance stars Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Sander van Doorn, John O'Callaghan, Marco V and Dash Berlin will also be amongst the eighty artists performing.

The complete festival experience will include a funfair, stalls, merchandise shops, world foods and event surprises, all located in a specially constructed festival village.

"We are going for the ultimate 'wow' factor with Planetlove this year. For the first time ever we are bringing the festival into the heart of Belfast; we're running it over two days, and we have enlisted the most amazing and broad line-up that Planetlove has ever enjoyed.

"All this shows our commitment to continually grow and develop the festival.

"There will be nearly twenty hours of music and we have added many new features and dimensions to the overall show while keeping the unique Planetlove atmosphere that makes the Planetlove festivals so special. It is going to be an excellent weekend for music fans."

Eddie added that he expected to be able to announce further acts and special guests in the near future.
